Café 1 is a relaxed spot tucked away on the first floor of Crown Court on George Street, offering a mix of casual dining and cafe-style fare that fits smoothly into Luton’s diverse food scene. Its location slightly removed from street level gives it a quieter atmosphere compared to busier road-side cafés, making it a nice place for a morning catch-up or a quick lunch break away from the bustle below.

The menu spans a variety of options, from an English Breakfast to dishes with a Mediterranean and South Asian twist—such as meat samosas and the locally favored desi chai. These flavours reflect the mixed community in Luton and provide a comforting, familiar taste for those who enjoy halal food prepared with care. The food tends to lean on milder seasoning, making it accessible for different preferences, though it might feel a bit toned down for those who enjoy bolder spice levels.

Café 1 is well-suited to brunch seekers and casual diners who appreciate straightforward, well-executed dishes like shepherd’s pie, lasagna, or loaded chilli fries. The breakfast options, including avocado toast topped with runny eggs, show attention to simple, fresh ingredients and thoughtful preparation. The bread comes toasted just right—crisp on the outside but soft enough inside—which enhances the overall experience.

The atmosphere here is friendly and unpretentious, with staff who are welcoming and adaptive to customer preferences. Locals who frequent Café 1 appreciate the genuine customer service and the owner's approachable manner, which adds a personal touch beyond just the food. The café attracts a mix of regulars—people grabbing a quick chai and samosa, as well as those looking for a comfortable spot to sit and share a meal.

Because of its indoor location and cozy vibe, Café 1 is best visited during quieter morning hours or early afternoon when you can enjoy a relaxed pace without feeling rushed. It works well for anyone wanting a casual meal or a familiar spot to unwind with a cup of tea or coffee mid-day. Though not geared for extended stays or coffee enthusiasts hunting for craft brews, it earns its place as a practical, community-minded stop in Luton’s dining map.

High quality fully HMC halal food. Good customer service. Food could have a bit more flavour to it, but I understand they have to be conscious of everyone’s tastebuds, and not everyone enjoys spicy food like I do! Wide menu variety, but I mostly get either the shepherd’s pie meal or lasagne meal. All in all, good place to go to!

I stopped by Cafe 1 for breakfast this morning and had a really great experience. I went for their avocado toast with eggs on top, and it did not disappoint. The bread was perfectly toasted—crisp on the outside but soft and warm on the inside. The avocado puree was smooth and fresh, with just the right amount of seasoning. The eggs were cooked exactly how I like them—nice and runny, so they added that perfect creaminess when mixed with the avocado. The portion size was great too; it was enough to fill me up without feeling overly heavy. The cafe itself has a really cozy vibe, and the staff were super friendly. They took the time to check in and make sure everything was good, which I really appreciated. I also noticed a lot of other breakfast options on the menu that I’m excited to try next time, like their smoothie bowls and pastries. If you're looking for a simple but tasty breakfast, definitely give Cafe 1 a shot. It’s got a nice mix of quality food, great service, and a laid-back atmosphere.

Dropped by for a quick cup of desi tea and a samosa. It tasted great. They do a range of foods from sandwiches to cooked meals and desserts. Staff were nice. I would recommend.

This is my favourite place to order brunch. Their lasagna is fantastic and I'm also a fan of their loaded chilli fries. Was surprised to hear they had moved over to a different location as I had been ordering via Uber Eats and not realised. Staff are always extremely friendly and happy to cater to your preferences. May Allah continue to bless this business.

Honestly People the cafe probably in the whole of England. Fresh, calm and warm environment. Staff are amazing friendly and what makes this is that the family are all 1 and make sure all customers are happy and satisfied. Cleanliness is on point, lots of parking and toilets available. Thai also has a soft play see You can also order your food form both side which is fantastic. Had poor experience with other places were There is not parking and you end up getting a ticket and hand no money for food. Food is amazing, deserts are amazing do check them out. Ive just discovered this place..where have i been! The cheese flan with beans and karak chai was just spot on and nostalgia from high school days. Having a glance at the menu when i was ordering, the prices are very reasonable. The ladies from taking the order through to serving were friendly and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended to anyone looking for delicious food and drinks at a reasonable price.
